WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Helen Fitzpatrick recorded a double-double, dishing out 23 assists and 12 digs against East Stroudsburg while picking up seven kills and 22 assists against Bowie State as host West Chester University swept a pair of volleyball matches inside Hollinger Field House Saturday.
West Chester (21-10, 7-10 PSAC) downed East Stroudsburg (8-25, 3-14) by scores of 25-18, 25-21 and 25-17 in the first match of the day. The Golden Rams then dispatched the Bulldogs (4-27) the measure of 25-10, 25-5 and 25-8 in the finale. East Stroudsburg defeated Bowie State, 3-0 in the middle game as well.
West Chester’s win clinched a playoff berth in the 2010 PSAC postseason tournament next month. The Golden Rams’ senior class won all eight matches against the Warriors over the past four years as WCU extended its personal winning streak over ESU to eight.
Michelle Powers posted 13 kills, and Lexi Kegerise had nine to go along with a hitting average of .429. Ashley Focht, Kelly Martin and Powers all registered a team-high three blocks against East Stroudsburg. Powers hit .310 in the morning match as well.
Fitzpatrick led all Golden Rams with seven kills in the nightcap against Bowie State. She hit 7-for-9 in the three games as West Chester posted a whopping .569 hitting percentage against BSU’s -0.54. Julie Boblits recorded six kills as well.
Dylan Keil led West Chester with six digs.
The women’s volleyball team will be back in action on Tuesday, Nov. 2 at home against Philadelphia University. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
