CHEYNEY, Pa. - Kehinde Roberts led West Chester with 14 points, eclipsing 1,000 for his career in the process, but host Cheyney ended the contest on a 15-4 run en route to a 70-62 victory in a PSAC East men's basketball showdown inside Cope Hall Monday night.
West Chester (14-9, 3-7 PSAC East) held a 58-55 advantage with just over five minutes remaining when Cheyney (14-9, 7-3) went on its decisive run to close out the game.
Roberts hit the front end of a two-shot foul early in the second half for his 1,000th point, becoming the third current Golden Rams' player to reach that milestone. It marks the first time in school history that three players on the same team all reached 1,000 points in their careers. He is the 23rd player in school history to reach the mark as well.
Ralph Hegamin scored 11 points and grabbed 13 rebounds while Elie Daniel posted 13 points off the bench for the Golden Rams.
Sharif Bray scored a game-high 31. Tyrone Smith scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Smith also had three assists and three steals.
West Chester hosts Kutztown on Wednesday at Hollinger Field House at 8 p.m.
