WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Senior middle hitter Michelle Powers registered her 1,000th career kill in the second set and added nine more throughout the rest of the match. However, visiting Gannon proved to be too much for West Chester, 3-1, in a PSAC crossover match inside Hollinger Field House Friday night.
Lexi Kegerise posted 10 kills of her own for the Golden Rams, and Helen Fitzpatrick picked up 16 assists.
West Chester (7-1) saw its seven-match win streak to open the season come to a close with the loss. Gannon (6-2) won the first two sets (25-19, 25-16). But West Chester would not give up, fighting back in the third set winning, 25-23.
Unfortunately, the Golden Rams fell short in the fourth and final set (25-13). It was a well played game on both sides.
The Golden Rams will be back on the court tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. vs Mercyhurst and 3:30 p.m. vs Edinboro in Hollinger Field House.
