MANSFIELD, Pa. – Sarah Oswald scored twice and assisted on two others while Melissa McKeary scored a goal and helped on a pair as well to lead fifth-ranked West Chester University to a 6-0 victory on the road over Mansfield Saturday afternoon.
It was a great day for Golden Rams soccer, who earned its sixth straight shutout of the year to remain perfect on the season and unscored upon at 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the PSAC.
West Chester’s Brittany Bakeman scored her first career goal in the 67th minute, with an assist from Sarah Oswald, to close out the scoring Saturday.
Eight minutes into the contest, Melissa McKeary notched the first goal of the game, depositing the ball into the bottom right corner of the net. About twenty minutes later, Jen Hutchinson set up Oswald for a goal.
Three minutes into the second half, Tara Malkiewicz scored on a header off a corner kick from Oswald. McKeary then set up Jen Gangl for West Chester’s fourth goal of the game. It was Gangl's fourth goal of the season with all of them coming in the Golden Rams' last three contests. Less than two minutes later, Oswald made her second goal of the game with an assist from McKeary.
Goalkeeper Lyndsie Bernardini played the entire game, registering two saves for the Golden Rams. She posted her fifth shutout of the season in the process.
Women’s soccer will be back in action Wednesday the 22nd against East Stroudsburg at the West Chester South Campus Soccer Fields at 4:30 p.m.
