Box Score

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Senior Kehinde Roberts scored a season-high 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds, but host West Chester University struggled from the field in a 73-62, setback to Kutztown University Wednesday evening inside Hollinger Field House.

West Chester (10-5, 1-2 PSAC East) dropped its second straight conference tilt while Kutztown (10-5, 3-0) remained unbeaten in league play and atop the Eastern Division standings.

The Golden Rams shot just 33.3 percent (22 of 66) from the floor in the loss. West Chester got some open looks. However, the shots were not falling for the hosts. Kutztown got to the foul line 37 times in the game as opposed to West Chester’s 14 trips.

Roberts was the only Golden Rams player with the hot hand Wednesday, shooting 5-for-8 from the field, in posting 17 points off the bench. It marked the third time this year that Roberts has hit double figures in his six games back from his shoulder injury that sidelined him until the second semester. Roberts grabbed nine boards and was credited with four steals as well.

Fellow senior Eli Daniel was the only other Golden Rams player in double figures with 13 points before fouling out for the fifth time this season.

West Chester trailed by four at halftime (34-30), but knocked down just 10 of 34 attempts (29.4 percent) in the second half.

Chester County native Julius Gray scored 15 points, 11 from the foul line, for Kutztown in his return home. Steve Coffey led all Golden Bears scorers with 17 points off the bench. Nate Edwards notched 14 points for the visitors as well.

West Chester travels to Millersville Saturday afternoon for another PSAC East showdown with the Marauders at Pucillo Gym. Tip is set for 3 p.m.
