Men's Swimming Falls At Penn, 170-105

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.
– West Chester University’s men’s swimming and diving squad captured three events, but dropped a 170-105 non-league dual meet to Ivy League foe University of Pennsylvania at Sheerr Pool Friday evening.

The Golden Rams won 3 of 15 events in Friday’s inter-divisional meet between intra-state rivals.

West Chester took the top three spots in both the the 200-yard individual medley and the 100 butterfly. Senior Kenny McCormick touched the wall first in the 200 IM in 1 minute, 59.32 seconds. Teammates Brendan Magarity and Pat Augustine followed McCormick to the wall in 2:02.38 and 2:07.35, respectively. Phil Letcavage won the 100 fly (52.72) with Phil Luzny (54.10) and Evan Deakyne (56.58) placing second and third.

Tommy Rhoads, Josh Pauley, Letcavage and Ryan Stahley comprised the 200 freestyle relay team that placed first in 1:27.29. Calvin Starosta, Mike Westley, Kevin Moyer and McCormick made up the second-place team that posted a score of 1:28.92.

Ryan Kuser placed second in the 1-meter springboard competition with a score of 292.95.

West Chester is off until the PSAC Championships at Cumberland Valley High School in two weeks. The divers will be back in action on Feb. 5 when they travel to the University of Delaware for the Delaware Diving Invitational.
