West Chester Stops Shepherd, 3-1

WEST CHESTER, Pa.
– Lexi Kegerise registered 17 kills and Lisa Campbell broke the school’s all-time career digs record as West Chester University defeated visiting Shepherd University, 3-1, in a non-league women’s volleyball match inside Hollinger Field House Tuesday evening.
 
West Chester (15-9) took the match by scores of 25-23, 25-18, 19-25 and 25-18. Campbell, who entered the match tied with former teammate Jacqueline Vivanco for the most digs in a career at 1,808, registered three digs in the first set to establish a new school mark. Campbell now has 1,819 career digs … and counting.
 
Kegerise hit .300 for the match while teammate Cara Reese posted nine kills and hit .529 to lead West Chester’s offensive attack. Dana Markol recorded 20 digs while Helen Fitzpatrick dished out 30 assists.

Defensively, West Chester registered eight blocks and forced Shepherd into a .024 hitting percentage in the fourth and deciding set. With the visiting Rams taking set three, the host Golden Rams put an abrupt end to their visitor’s momentum.
 
Reese finished with four blocks while Kegerise and Kelly Martin each registered three.
 
West Chester travels to Kutztown Friday for a pivotal PSAC East match against the Golden Bears.
