CHEYNEY, Pa. – In a rare volleyball doubleheader, visiting West Chester University came away with a pair of victories over host Cheyney with back-to-back 3-0 sweeps over the Wolves at Cope Hall Tuesday evening.
West Chester (21-12, 9-9 PSAC) took the first match by scores of 25-4, 25-6, 25-9 and then captured the second match 25-11, 25-4, 25-12.
In the opener, the Golden Rams hit .473 and made just three errors en route to the easy win. Tyler Sheafer recorded nine kills while Lisa Campbell registered 10 digs and four service aces. West Chester notched 13 aces in all for the match. Mary Faust matched Campbell’s 10 digs.
In the nightcap, Sheafer picked up 10 digs and eight aces while Julie O’Brien led the team with six kills. Jamie Hughes and Sheafer added five kills each.
West Chester returns home Saturday afternoon for Senior Day when the Golden Rams take on Kutztown in a PSAC East showdown at Hollinger Field House. Match time is set for 1 p.m.
