ERIE, Pa. - PSAC runner-up Mercyhurst College scored a 9-0 win over visiting West Chester University in a men's tennis match late Saturday night.
West Chester (3-9) received outstanding performances from its fifth and sixth singles. Connor Dunn, playing just his second singles match of the year, dropped a 7-5, 6-4 decision at fifth singles. Alan Day put up a fight at sixth singles, before succombing 6-2, 6-4.
The Lakers swept the doubles competition. However, Dunn and Steve Hlava at first doubles fought before falling, 8-5 while Matt Thomas and J.J. Cooke came close at third doubles with an 8-6 defeat.
West Chester will be back in action Sunday morning against Edinboro.
