Box Score

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Kutztown downed host West Chester, 8-1, in a PSAC men’s tennis match at South Campus’ tennis courts Saturday afternoon.

West Chester (6-12, 1-3 PSAC) pulled out a thrilling win at second doubles over Kutztown (9-3, 3-0) after narrowly scoring an upset at first doubles over the conference’s first-place squad.

Nate Geigle and Steve Hlava teamed up at No. 1 doubles, before falling, 9-7. David Goldenberg and Alan Day managed a 9-8 (7) victory at second doubles for the Rams’ only point of the match. However, both the first two doubles matches were evenly played throughout and could have gone either way.

Geigle had to retire in the second set at first singles, as he continues to battle through injuries in his senior season. Kutztown swept Nos. 2-5 singles to remain unbeaten in league play.

West Chester is scheduled to take on Division I Patriot League foe Lafayette on Tuesday. However, the Golden Rams may make up their rained out affair against Millersville before then.
