SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Host Slippery Rock knotted the game with 38 seconds remaining and that is how it stood after 110 minutes of soccer and the second-ranked West Chester University Golden Rams played to a 1-1 overtime tie against No. 22 Slippery Rock Saturday afternoon.
West Chester's Marie D'Angelo put the Golden Rams on top in the second half. However, the Rams could not hold the lead in the final minute of play.
Tara Malkiewicz had an excellent opportunity off a corner kick in the second overtime period. However, Slippery Rock's defender made a defensive save, kicking the ball off the goal line and out of danger as The Rock's keeper did not have a chance at the ball.
Slippery Rock held a slight edge in shots (14-13). West Chester controlled the tempo for much of the second overtime.
