KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Carolynne Kahl scored in the sixth minute of the contest, and 22nd-ranked Kutztown made it stand up as the Bears went on to a 1-0 victory over visiting West Chester on a rainy Wednesday afternoon.
West Chester (5-2-3, 3-2-3 PSAC), who dropped out of the national rankings this week, has now won just one of its last four contests (1-2-1). The game was delayed 30 minutes in the second half due to lightning in the area.
The Golden Rams controlled the second half, outshooting Kutztown, 8-0. However, problems finishing opportunities continue to plague West Chester as the equalizer would not come.
Freshman goalkeeper Shannon Fedyk made two saves in the first half.
West Chester hosts Mansfield on Saturday at noon in its next PSAC contest.
