EDINBORO, Pa. - Freshman Dallas Ely (Montrose Area) led visiting West Chester with 15 points, but the Golden Rams could not hold on as host Edinboro erased a 23-point first-half deficit en route to a 76-68 PSAC women's basketball victory Wednesday night inside McComb Fieldhouse.
West Chester (5-3, 3-2 PSAC) jumped out to a 28-5 advantage early on thanks to a torrid shooting pace of 70 percent in the first eight minutes of the game. However, Edinboro (7-2, 4-1) slowly chipped away at the lead, eventually drawing even at 59-59 with under eight minutes to play.
Still, the Fighting Scots did not secure their first lead of the game until a 68-65 advantage with under four minutes to play.
Paige Elliott and Brittany Sicinski each scored 12 points off the bench for the Golden Rams.
West Chester is off until Sunday, Dec. 30 at 1 p.m. for a non-league tilt against another nationally ranked foe in Holy Family. That contest will home inside Hollinger Field House.
