BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Alexandra Lennon scored 21 points, but host Bloomsburg’s Dana Weiller tied her own school record with eight 3-pointers to lead the Huskies to an 84-76 victory over West Chester in PSAC East women’s basketball action Saturday afternoon inside Nelson Fieldhouse.
West Chester (16-6, 12-6 PSAC) falls two games back of division-leading Bloomsburg (20-4, 14-4) and into a tie for second place with Millersville, who defeated Kutztown on Saturday.
The Huskies made 12 of 26 3-point attempts while also knocking down 22 of 24 free throws to hold off the Golden Rams. West Chester shot 41 percent from the floor and made 15 of 18 free throws themselves. However, the visitors just could not keep up with the hosts’ 3-point parade.
Wieller finished with a game-high 32 points, including 8 of 15 from behind the arc, while Kayla Oxenrider posted 19 points on the strength of a 15-for-17 showing at the foul line. Kelsey Gallagher, who missed the showdown between these two teams earlier in the season due to injury, registered 17 points. The rest of the Huskies team combined to score just 16 points.
Lennon added seven rebounds and three blocked shots to her 21 points. Jillian Keefer posted 16 points and four assists. Serifat Junaid scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds off the bench for the Rams.
West Chester travels to Shippensburg Wednesday evening for a PSAC East contest. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. inside Heigis Fieldhouse.
