PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - J.J. Cooke and the third doubles team each picked up wins, but it was not enough to overcome host Philadelphia University in a non-league men's tennis match at Salaman Courts in Philadelphia Thursday afternoon.
Cooke was a 6-2, 6-4 victor at sixth singles for the Golden Rams (4-7) while WCU teammates Steve Hlava and David Goldenberg paired up for an 8-5 win at third doubles.
Philadelphia University took the first and second doubles competitions and held a 2-1 advantage after the doubles competition. Conor Dunn and Jimmy Aridas dropped a very close 8-6 decision at second doubles. That match could have gone either way. Unfortunately for WCU, the host Rams won the match.
West Chester opens the spring portion of its PSAC schedule this weekend against Kutztown on South Campus.
