OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. - Kevin McCann raced down the left side and ripped a shot near post that found the back of the net with two minutes remaining to lift West Chester University into a 1-1 tie with host New York Institute of Technology in a non-league men's soccer match Sunday afternoon on Long Island.
West Chester (1-2-1) is now unbeaten in its last two contests, following a win over Holy Family in the middle of the week. NY Tech (1-3-1) remains winless in its last three matches with the tie.
NYIT scored first on a penalty kick when West Chester was whistled for a hand ball in the area. However, the Golden Rams battled back, and McCann took advantage with his goal in the waning minutes of the game. Brett Snyder was credited with an assist on the goal.
West Chester travels to Shippensburg on Wednesday night to open its PSAC slate against the Raiders.
