UPJ Sweeps West Chester Volleyball, 3-0

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - West Chester University's women's volleyball squad dropped a 3-0 decision to host Pitt-Johnstown in PSAC East action Thursday evening.

West Chester (10-7, -6 PSAC East) saw its modest two-match win streak come to a close while UPJ improves to 12-4 overall and 6-2 in the league. The Mountain Cats took the match in straight sets, 25-19, 25-19, 25-21.

Samantha Agostini notched a double-double with 13 digs and 23 assists for the Golden Rams as she continues to adjust nicely to her new role as the team's setter. She moved over to the setter position from outside hitter when freshman setter Annalee Halbert suffered an injury. Meanwhile, Tyler Shaefer, another player learning a new position due to injuries to the Rams' personnel, led the squad with eight kills. The former defensive specialist for the past three years, is making a name for herself at outside hitter.

Marina Sharkey posted seven kills for West Chester as did Julia O'Brien. Dana Markol led all Golden Rams with 16 digs and Bethany Gould had 10.

West Chester continues its journey out in the middle part of the Keystone State with another PSAC East showdown against Lock Haven Friday night.
