WEST CHESTER, Pa – West Chester University Volleyball picked up its second PSAC victory of the weekend with a 3-0 triumph over East Stroudsburg Saturday afternoon in Hollinger Field House.
The Golden Rams (13-12, 5-10 PSAC) improved to 6-1 at home this season.
"It was a strong win to add to our confidence," Head Coach Kassie Bellaver said. "It was a pivotal weekend and we executed well."
Julia O'Brien led the way with 10 kills and four blocks,
Marina Sharkey had nine and two blocks. Together they made a formidable wall in the middle of the defense.
Samantha Agostini had 18 assists with six kills, and
Tori Hutchinson added fifteen assists and five digs. Her excellent play allowed Agostini to slide into her right side hitting position.
"Tori Hutchinson's play was important," Bellaver added. "She gave us flexibility with her setting and defense."
Callie Kacjir led the defense with 13 digs and
Tyler Sheafer added 11.
West Chester won a close first set ending with its largest lead of the set 25-21.
The Golden Rams built leads in the second and third sets, only to see the Warriors battle back to make it tight. West Chester played the big points with confidence and swept the match by scores of (25-22, 25-21).
Next up is a trip to Shepherd University on Tuesday for a non-league game at 7 p.m. The Golden Rams return home Friday for another important PSAC weekend with visits from Millersville and East leading Shippensburg is in town on Saturday.
