WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Julia O'Brien posted a team-high 13 kills and Tyler Shaefer added nine kills in her final college volleyball match as visiting West Chester defeated host Kutztown, 3-0, in a PSAC volleyball season-ending contest Saturday afternoon.
West Chester (16-17, 8-14 PSAC) finishes in fifth place in the PSAC East standings, one place shy of a playoff spot, while Kutztown (14-19, 8-14) also saw its season end Saturday. The Golden Rams swept the season series with Kutztown by scores of 25-12, 25-21 and 25-19.
West Chester hit .311 for the match, including a whopping .435 in the opening set.
Tori Hutchinson notched 24 assists while Mandy Flynn added 17. Callie Krajcir registered 16 digs to lead the defensive effort for the Golden Rams. Shaefer's nine digs left her one shy of recording a double-double in the match. O'Brien also posted six blocks in the game.
