Derr Leads No. 10 West Chester To 66-14 Win At Cheyney

CHEYNEY, Pa. – Andrew Derr went 13-for-23 for 293 yards and three touchdowns, and Rondell White rushed for 103 yards and two scores as No. 10 West Chester defeated PSAC East rival Cheyney, 66-14, Saturday afternoon at O'Shields-Stevenson Stadium.
 
West Chester (9-0, 6-0 PSAC East) scored 42 points after halftime to improve to 9-0 for the first time since 1967 while Cheyney (0-9, 0-6) is still in search of its first win on the year.
 
Erick Brundidge caught a 67-yard TD pass in the second quarter, and Tim Keyser hauled in a 21-yard score a little later in the frame to help stake the visitors to a 24-7 lead by the break. Brundidge, who finished with four catches for 104 yards, snared a 25-yard touchdown pass late in the third quarter.
 
White scored on a 6-yard run with four seconds remaining in the opening quarter, and then he scampered into the end zone from five yards out early in the third quarter that extended West Chester's lead to 31-7, before sitting down for the day.
 
On Cheyney's ensuing possession, WCU linebacker Drew Persa picked up a fumble and rambled 13 yards for his first career touchdown that gave the Rams a 38-7 lead.
 
West Chester tacked on three rushing touchdowns in the fourth quarter to salt away the contest. Brandon Monk scored from two yards out, Jared Bonacquisti dove in from 1-yard, and Eddie Elliott bolted 59 yards for a TD.
 
West Chester had seven different players score a touchdown and outgained Cheyney 533-269. The Golden Rams also took advantage of four Cheyney turnovers to put this game away early. Defensively, Chris DiValentino led West Chester with five tackles, including a pair of sacks.
 
West Chester hosts No. 6 Bloomsburg (8-1, 5-1) next Saturday afternoon at John A. Farrell Stadium. The winner of that contest will earn a berth into the PSAC Championship Game on Saturday, Nov. 16 in its home stadium.
