CHEYNEY, Pa. - West Chester put four players in double figures, however, host Cheyney ended the Golden Rams' six-game winning streak and crushed their hopes at claiming a share of the PSAC East title with a 92-83 victory Wednesday night inside Cope Hall.
West Chester (19-7, 17-5 PSAC) finishes the regular season in second place and will receive a first-round bye in the upcoming PSAC Tournament. The Golden Rams will await the winner of Shippensburg vs. Millersville, which will be played Saturday night in Millersville. Cheyney (14-12, 12-10) ended the regular season on a five-game winning streak and will apply for the ECAC postseason tournament.
Cheyney closed out the contest on a 23-10 run to eventually pull away from West Chester. Rashaad Slappy and DeShawn Curtis combined to score 57 points for the Wolves.
West Chester was led by 16 points from Carl Johnson and 15 points from Corey Blake. Troy Hockaday scored 14 points, while Shannon Givens added 13 points off the bench for the Rams.
West Chester hosts the PSAC Quarterfinal round at Hollinger Field House on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. Millersville is the third seed in the postseason tournament while Shippensburg is the sixth and final seed in the Eastern Division.
