TAMPA, Fla. – West Chester’s men’s tennis team defeated Ave Maria University, 7-2, to grab its first win of the seasonThursday morning at Hillsborough CC Tennis Courts in Tampa, Fla.
West Chester (1-7) lost only one doubles match and one singles match against Ave Maria (1-8). After taking the win in the second doubles match, 8-3, Cody Limback and Wanzel Fleming also received wins in the fifth and sixth singles match by default.
Andrew Peterson picked up a win in his third singles matchup, 6-1, 6-1, to clinch the team’s first win of the year. Luan Kichen won his singles match right after in the fifth matchup, 6-0, 6-0.
The team dropped its first match of the day in the doubles and in the singles, but won out the rest of the way to finish the match in strong fashion.
The Golden Rams finished their Spring Break trip 1-3 down in Florida.
