MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - David Goldenberg picked up a win at fourth singles as West Chester's men's tennis team secured a 7-2 victory over host Millersville at McComsey Tennis Courts Saturday afternoon in a PSAC match.
West Chester (7-8, 3-0 PSAC) won its sixth straight and seven of its last eight while knocking off Millersville (3-9, 1-2) for the second straight year. Ironically, it was Goldenberg who got the match-clincher a year ago that ended a 16-match losing streak to the Marauders that dated back to 1994.
Goldenberg was a 6-2, 6-2 winner as the Rams took Nos. 2 through 6 singles i nthe win. Chaz Irwin won at second singles, Lars Kristiansen at third singles, Pat McGinley at fifth singles and J.J. Cooke at sixth singles. West Chester also claimed wins at second and third doubles. Goldenberg and Steve Hlava teamed up at third doubles for an 8-2 win.
West Chester travels to Edinboro and Mercyhurst next weekend for its final two league matches.
