West Chester Sophomore Tandem Too Much For East Stroudsburg, 83-68

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Sophomore Dallas Ely posted a game-high 26 points and classmate Brittany Sicinski netted 20 to lead West Chester to an 83-68 victory over visiting East Stroudsburg (9-9, 4-4) in a PSAC East women's basketball contest inside Hollinger Field House Saturday afternoon.
 
West Chester (12-6, 7-1 PSAC East) kept its stranglehold on first place in the conference standings with the win over East Stroudsburg (9-9, 4-4). The Golden Rams lead both Bloomsburg, a winner over Kutztown, and Millersville, who defeated Shippensburg, by one game in the league standings.
 
Ely's 26 points marked the eighth time this year that she eclipsed 20 in a contest. The PSAC's leading scorer closed out the game on a personal 8-2 run that ensured the Golden Rams of its seventh conference win in eight tries. She finished 11-for-17 from the field and also grabbed eight rebounds, tying Anna Kuntz (13 points) for the game high.
 
West Chester trailed early on, 5-2, when the Golden Rams went on a 9-0 run, holding East Stroudsburg scoreless over a two-minute span, to take control of the game for good. The Golden Rams never trailed again. The Warriors got the deficit, which was 10 points at half, down to eight in the second half, but could not make a serious run at the hosts.
 
The Rams scored 38 points off of 26 Warriors turnovers and shot 53.3 percent (32 of 60) for the game. Jasmen Clark recorded six steals in a game for the second time this season, equaling her total at Holy Famly earlier this winter.
 
ESU's Jessica Martin led the visitors with 19 points. She was the only Warriors player in double figures. She posted 12 of her 19 in the second half.
 
West Chester travels to cross-county rival Cheyney on Wednesday as the Golden Rams begin their second time around the PSAC Eastern Division. Tip is set for 6 p.m. inside Cope Hall.
