Box Score

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Three first-half goals were too much to overcome as 15th-ranked West Chester University's women's soccer squad dropped a 4-2 decision to No. 19 Kutztown in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference women's soccer semifinal Friday afternoon.

West Chester (16-2-1) will not wait until Monday to see where it will be placed in the 2014 NCAA Division II Tournament that gets under way next weekend. Kutztown (15-4) advances to the conference championship game on Saturday against East Stroudsburg.

The Bears scored a pair of goals two minutes apart 15 minutes into the game and then added another shortly before halftime to take a commanding 3-0 lead by the break.

Dana Hunt (Pittstown, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional) scored short side from the right-hand side of the penalty area in the first minute of the second half to breathe some life into the Golden Rams. However, Kutztown answered that with another marker from Sam Costello, her second of the game, just two minutes later to restore the Bears' three-goal advantage.

Nikki Lynch (Limerick, Pa./Spring-Ford) tallied a goal with 10 minutes to go in the game. But, it was too late for the Rams to mount a comeback. Cara Deola (Churchville, Pa./Council Rock South) assisted on both of West Chester's goals Friday.

West Chester yielded a season-high eight corner kicks. Sophomore goalkeeper Alex Srolis (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown East) made four saves in the loss.
