Box Score

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – On a day that West Chester University honored its senior class, the Golden Rams' men's tennis squad defeated visiting Division III opponent, Eastern University, 9-0, in a non-league match on South Campus.

West Chester (6-10) closed out its 2013-14 campaign with the convincing win over the Eagles (7-8).

The Golden Rams opened up with a 3-0 sweep in doubles as four of the six participants were in the senior class. Classmates Jimmy Aridas and J.J. Cooke were 8-4 winners at third doubles while senior Connor Dunn teamed with Ryan Learn for an 8-3 win at second doubles, and senior Cody Leimback teamed up with junior Jared Howat for an 8-1 win.

Dunn, Leimback and Cooke each picked up wins in the singles competition that followed as the Rams completed the shutout with six more victories. All six wins were straight-set victories.

West Chester's four seniors have been part of a great transformation within the men's tennis program during their four-year career. The Golden Rams authored an overall record of 31-44 while going 9-11 against PSAC competition during this group's college career. West Chester qualified for the conference tournament in each of the past two years, including tying for the regular-season title in 2013 with a 4-1 mark. The seniors played a huge role in posting wins over both perennial PSAC powers Bloomsburg and Kutztown for the first time since at least the turn of the century. Those wins came back-to-back at home their junior year.
