Box ScoreWEST CHESTER, Pa. – West Chester's No. 1 doubles team picked up an impressive win, but it was not enough to overcome visiting Edinboro, which registered a 6-3 PSAC men's tennis win Saturday afternoon on South Campus.
West Chester (4-7, 0-1 PSAC) opened its conference slate with a loss while Edinboro (11-8, 3-1) upped its winning streak to three matches.
Jared Howatt and Cody Leimback were 8-5 winners at first doubles. However, the Fighting Scots captured Nos. 2 and 3 doubles to enter the singles competition with a 2-1 advantage.
Edinboro then won the first four singles matches to finish, clinching the match with a 6-1 lead. Lars Kristiansen and J.J. Cooke pulled out wins for the Golden Rams at fourth and sixth singles. But, that was all the Rams would get Saturday afternoon.
West Chester will be back in action Sunday morning with an 11 a.m. match against Mercyhurst.
