Box Score WEST CHESTER, Pa. - Kara Parvel (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) scored the game's only goal 12 minutes into the contest, and West Chester University's stingy defense did the rest as the host Golden Rams defeated visiting Lock Haven, 1-0, in a PSAC women's soccer match at Rockwell Field Wednesday afternoon.
West Chester (7-0-0, 6-0-0 PSAC) is off to its best start since 2012 when the Rams started out 9-0-0 and only allowed one goal in those eight games. West Chester has yielded just two scores in its first seven games so far. Lock Haven falls to 2-5-0 overall and 2-5-0 in the conference.
Parvel's third tally of the season was a blast from 20 yards out that sailed over the goalkeeper's head and underneath the crossbar.
Carly Yost (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) picked up the assist on the play.
From there, it was all up to the Golden Rams' defense, which did not allow the Eagles' many scoring opportunities the rest of the way. Lock Haven managed just seven shots in the game and did not get a corner kick opportunity.
Alex Srolis (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown East) made four saves in 90 minutes of play. Lock Haven's Michelle Cuomo (2-5) made three saves in the first half, but took the loss. Morgan Euston came on in the second half and made five saves. West Chester held a 19-7 advantage in shots.
The Golden Rams travel to Bloomsburg on Saturday for a 7:30 p.m. start against the Huskies.
