Laura Slavich (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) and
Kaitlyn McNamara (West Nyack, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) each scored their first career goals as visiting West Chester waited out a pair of lightning delays to down host Kutztown Saturday afternoon, 2-0.

West Chester (2-0, 1-0 PSAC) opened its conference slate with a win while Kutztown (1-1, 1-1 PSAC) dropped to .500 in conference play with the loss.

The first half of the game was interrupted twice by lightning delays, which messed with West Chester's continuity and momentum. However, Slavich and McNamara were the super subs in the second half that proved to be the difference.

Slavich broke the scoreless deadlock in the 61st minute with a goal from
Cara Deola (Churchville, Pa./Council Rock South) and
Sara Wulk (Washington Twp., N.J./Bishop Eustice). McNamara then put the game away with a floater from 35 yards out in the 82nd minute on a corner kick off an assist from
Lexi Lentz (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg Area).

Alex Srolis (2-0) made three saves to pick up the shutout win in goal for West Chester. Her counterpart, Deanna Messner, made a pair of saves in the loss.

West Chester continues its early-season road trip by heading up to Mansfield University on Wednesday to take on the Mountaineers.
