G Brittany Sicinski (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) finished with a team-high 21 points, 15 points in the first half, but it was not enough as the West Chester Golden Rams fell by a score of 76-54 to 25th-ranked Indiana (Pa.) inside Hollinger Field House Sunday afternoon.
West Chester (10-2, 7-2 PSAC) took an early lead (21-17), but a 7-0 run by the Crimson Hawks countered that beginning and put IUP (12-0, 8-0) in front for good.
The Hawks led 45-28 at the half, shooting 8-for-15 from 3-point range and outrebounding the Golden Rams, 24-18. They would keep the lead for the remainder of the game, creating their largest at 27 in the closing minutes.
Sicinski added six rebounds, four steals and two assists in the losing effort.
Dallas Ely (Montrose, Pa./Montrose) and
Anna Kuntz (Camp Hill, Pa./Trinity) added eight points each. Kuntz added six rebounds as well.
Chikisha Steele-Hook (Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna Twp.) grabbed six boards in the loss.
The Hawks' Lindsay Stamp led the team with a double-double, scoring 25 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Guard Leslie Stapleton shot 4-for-5 from beyond the arc for 12 points in the first half, ending with 20 points in the win. The Crimson Hawk s outrebounded West Chester, 51-43, for 22 second-chance points in the game.
West Chester will try to rebound on a two-game road trip against Seton Hill on Wednesday, Jan. 7 and Bloomsburg on Saturday.
