Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – West Chester dropped its first match against Gannon in straight sets, but came back in its second match to defeat Mercyhurst to split two matches inside Koehler Field House Friday afternoon.

The Golden Rams (18-5, 6-5 PSAC) found themselves down 2-0 to the Lakers, but rattled off three straight wins by scores of 30-28, 25-21 and 15-10 to close out the win. Earlier, Gannon (15-4, 8-2 PSAC) would put the match away in three sets (25-22, 25-16, 25-22) to snap the Golden Rams' six-game winning streak.

Sr., Molly Grammer (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) led the Golden Rams with a match-high 19 kills, and sister Jillian Grammer (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) registered a career-high 49 assists to lift WCU over Mercyhurst (11-11, 6-5 PSAC). West Chester trailed 2 sets to 0 going into the third set. Grammer added 12 digs, three kills, and two blocks to her overall effort.

The win was the Rams' first over the Lakers since 2011 and just the second time in 11 meetings that WCU has come out victorious. It also marked the first time this fall that West Chester came back to win, after dropping the first two sets and left WCU undefeated in matches that go the distance (2-0).

Victoria Cruciani (Phoenixville, Pa./Pope John Paul II) added nine kills in the win and added 5.5 blocks and three digs in the victory. Samantha Agostini (Broomall, Pa./Cardinal O' Hara) also ended the match with nine kills, to go with five digs, three blocks and two assists. Freshman Abbie Dischert (Wilmington, Del./Concord) put up nine kills as well and contributed with seven digs to keep the Golden Rams alive.

Allie Duffy (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) added seven kills, six digs and two blocks on the comeback while Nicki Yates (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh), after sitting out the first set, recorded a season-high 27 digs to help the team get back on the winning track.

In the first match of the day against Gannon, Molly Grammer led the Golden Rams with a total of 16 kills while Jillian contributed 32 assists in the three-set loss.

Duffy had three kills and digs while Agostini and Cruciani had three kills and two blocks each in the loss.
