Box Score WEST CHESTER, Pa. - West Chester University scored three first-half goals en route to its fifth straight shutout and a 4-0 victory over PSAC rival Lock Haven on a gorgeous Wednesday afternoon at Rockwell Field.
West Chester (12-3, 11-3 PSAC) extended its consecutive mintues streak without allowing a goal to 507:30 while Lock Haven (3-10-1, 3-9-1) lost for the first time in three games.
Cynthia Hagerty (Hockessin, Del./Alexis I. duPont) scored twice, and
Kara Parvel (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) finished with four points (1G, 2A) in the win.
Lexi Brown (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury) scored a goal and assisted on another for the Golden Rams.
Hagerty opened up the scoring in the ninth minute when she knocked in a beautiful cross from Parvel on the far post. Parvel beat her defender about 30 yards out and dribbled down the right side, before sending a pass right on the money over to Hagerty. Eleven minutes later, Brown lifted a ball over Lock Haven goalkeeper Katie Gable's head and into the net, after receiving a pass from Parvel in the area. Parvel finally potted a goal of her own on a long shot from outside the 18 that snuck underneath the cross bar. Haley Mangiaruga (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) picked up the assist on that goal.
Hagerty scored her second goal of the game in the second half as icing on the cake.
Alex Srolis (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown East) got the win in goal for West Chester. She has not allowed a goal in almost 421 minutes. She was called upon to make just one save.
Madi Mitchell (Wall, N.J./Wall Twp.) played the final 14 minutes to combine with Srolis for the shutout. It marked the second game during the current five-game winning streak, that Mitchell and Srolis have combined for the shutout.
West Chester travels to Clarion University on Saturday for another PSAC showdown at 1 p.m.
