Karleigh Lutz (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) added a season-high 10 kills to lift West Chester over Shippensburg, 3-0, for their fifth-straight sweep over a PSAC-East rival Friday night inside Heiges Field House.
The Golden Rams (16-4, 4-4 PSAC) captured their first win over Shippensburg since 2008, snapping a seven-game losing streak at Heiges Field House, which included five sweeps in the last five meetings. They would return the favor by stretching the lead one point from set to set to finish the match off 25-21, 25-20 and 25-19. The Red Raiders (13-6, 4-4 PSAC) took the lead early on in each set but could not hang on as West Chester always answered with a strong finish at the end.
Allie Duffy (Carlisle, Pa. / Carlisle) added well-rounded attack with six kills, three blocks, two digs and two service aces.
Samantha Agostini (Broomall, Pa. / Cardinal O' Hara) registered six kills, four blocks, and two digs.
Victoria Cruciani (Phoenixville, Pa. / Pope John Paul II) contributed five kills, four blocks, and three digs to the win.
Jillian Grammer (Center Valley, Pa. / Southern Lehigh) a game-high 36 assists, to go with nine digs to provide her teammates every opportunity to end the point.
West Chester will right back at it tomorrow as they travel to Millersville for a 1 p.m. match.
