Annalee Halbert (Port Murray, N.J./West Morris Catholic) dished out 31 assists as the host Golden Rams defeated visiting Cheyney 3-0 in a PSAC women's volleyball match inside Hollinger Field House Tuesday evening.
West Chester (22-8, 10-8 PSAC) sewed up a postseason bid with the win, moving five matches ahead of fifth-place Millersville with only four matches left in the regular season. Cheyney (2-23, 0-18) is still in search of its first conference victory. The Golden Rams prevailed by scores of 25-10, 25-16 and 25-3.
Rachel Powers (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) opened the third and deciding set by serving the first eight points and staking the hosts to an 8-0 lead. Later, Halbert served 11 straight points that left the Rams in control 21-3. In that final set, West Chester used just four servers, not even rotating through all six players.
Tori Cruciani (Phoenixville, Pa./Pope John Paul II) finished with five kills and three blocks.
Nicki Yates (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) posted 13 digs.
The Golden Rams registered a .440 hitting percentage in the third set while Cheyney hit -.203 for the entire match.
West Chester welcomes Millersville to Hollinger Field House on Friday at 7 p.m., before hosting second-place Shippensburg on Saturday at 1 p.m.
