WEST CHESTER, Pa. - West Chester University's men's tennis squad took two out of three doubles matches and then swept Nos. 2 thru 6 singles to pick up a 7-2 victory over visiting University of the Sciences in a non-league match on a sunny, but cold, Thursday afternoon.
West Chester (4-5) won all five of its singles matches in straight sets. Charlie Rushing was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at second singles while Tony Deimler and Troy Donato were each 6-0, 6-1 winners at fourth and sixth singles, respectively. Lars Kristiansen and Lucas van der Heyde were also winners in singles play for the Golden Rams.
Jared Howatt and Tony Deimler teamed up for a win at first doubles, 8-3, while Rushing and Kristiansen were 8-2 winners at second doubles.
West Chester travels to Mercyhurst and Edinboro this weekend for a pair of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference matches on the road in Erie, Pa.
