West Chester Opens The New Year With A 70-48 Victory Over Seton Hill

Box Score

West Chester, Pa. – Sr., G Jasmen Clarke (Temple, Pa. / Oley Valley) poured on a season-high 17 points, shooting 5 for 6  from three-point range, to give West Chester a boost over Seton Hill 70-48 inside Hollinger Field House Sunday afternoon.

The Golden Rams (8-4, 5-3 PSAC) jumped out to a 10-point lead to end the first period and would never look back by their defensive pressure, forcing the Griffins into 21 turnovers for the game. They would not allow any Griffin scorer to rack up double-digits in points. The team's intensity came to light on the defensive end leading to 15 second chance points and eight on the fast break, while limiting the Griffins zero of those opportunities. Seton Hills' (7-7, 3-5 PSAC) bench outscored West Chester's 27-17, but was not enough as the team would go 19 for 65 for the whole game.

Brittany Sicinski (Downingtown, Pa. /Downingtown West) shot 50-percent (7-for-14) from the field for 16 points, 14 in the first half, to go with seven rebounds, six assists, and a block to help put the Golden Rams up by 14 points at the break. Center Anna Kuntz (Camp Hill, Pa. / Trinity) had an all-around great day, adding nine points, eight rebounds, three blocks, two assists, and two steals. Griffins' Kinross Obiefule recorded a team-high nine points and eight rebounds in the loss.

WCU increased its lead to 20 (51-31) with 2:27 minutes remaining in the third period, allowing Head Coach Kiera Wooden to play every member on the game-day roster in the second half and give her starters some rest with a heavy PSAC East conference schedule on the horizon.

West Chester takes a four-game winning streak to Western Pennsylvania to face PSAC Crossover California (Pa.) on Wednesday Jan. 6th at 1 p.m.
