West Chester Falls To Lehigh In Dual Meet, 173-121

Meet Results

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Michael Oliver was a double winner in the pool, and Dan Roy on the diving boards, but host Lehigh University was too deep for West Chester's men's swimming team in a dual meet at Jacobs Pool Friday night.

Roy captured both diving competitions with teammate Luke Kisiel right behind in second place each time. Roy posted 317.93 points off the 3-meter board while registering 275.40 points off the 1m board. Oliver won both breaststrokes for the Golden Rams.

Thomas McCormick was the other first-place winner in the 200 Individual Medley Friday. He touched the wall in 1 minute, 57.64 seconds.

Meanwhile, five-time Division II national champion Victor Polyakov placed second in three separate races. He was runner-up in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:57.80. His time of 57.78 seconds in the 100 backstroke was also good for second while his time of 4:42.08 in the 500 free was the second fastest Friday.

Shota Nakano placed second right behind Oliver in both breaststrokes. McCormick was third in the 200 breast, finishing off a sweep of the top three spots in that event. Both relays Friday were runner-up as well (400 medley relay; 200 free relay).

Dylan North and Timothy Tomsuden went second and third in the 200 butterfly – another strong event for the Golden Rams Friday. West Chester won 5 of the 10 events in the meet. The Mountain Hawks were just deeper than the Rams en route to the victory.

West Chester returns to the pool next Saturday at Bloomsburg.
