Box Score

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - Miguel Ross (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) scored from the top of the penalty area in the 57th minute to lift host West Chester to a 1-0 non-league men's soccer victory over visiting Goldey-Beacom College on a sun-splashed Wednesday afternoon at Rockwell Field.

West Chester (7-3-2) got five saves from sophomore goalkeeper James Wood (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) (6-3-2), who earned his fifth shutout of the year with the win over Goldey-Beacom (6-3-1).

Ross took four of the Golden Rams' 11 shots in the game. Brett Glasco (West Chester, Pa./Rustin) logged the assist on Ross' goal. The home team was outshot by the visitors, 16-11, while the Lightning also held a decided advantage in corner kicks, 10-2. However, the visitors could not get anything past Wood. Ross moved into a tie with Adam Smith (1990-92) for third place on the school's all-time scoring list with 61 career points. Marc Rich (1989-91) had 63 career points, which currently stands second all-time to Ryan Sekkes' mark of 103 points from 2000-03.

West Chester returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 11 when East Stroudsburg comes to town for a PSAC matchup at 3:30 p.m. following the women's game at 1 p.m. The men's game next Tuesday will be a battle for third place as the Golden Rams, currently in third with 13 points, lead ESU, who is in fifth place, by three points.
