No. 4 Women's Soccer Battles Kutztown For Atlantic Region Title

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - West Chester University has been here before. It seems every other year - on an even-numbered year - the Golden Rams are hosting the regional finals and quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Tournament. 2016 is no different.

West Chester (19-0-1) welcomes PSAC rival Kutztown (18-4), Bridgeport (17-3) and Adelphi (16-3-1) to Rockwell Field this weekend as the four teams settle once and for all, who will head to Kansas City for the national semifinals.

West Chester, ranked fourth in the latest NSCAA Coaches' Poll, takes on No. 18 Kutztown Friday at 11 a.m. while No. 7 Bridgeport faces No. 9 Adelphi at 1:30 p.m. The winners will meet on Sunday at 12 p.m. in the NCAA Quarterfinals.

The Golden Rams have captured six Atlantic Region titles (2005, 2006, 2007, 2010, 2012 and 2014), but have advanced to the national semifinals just once (2006). Kutztown is making its first appearance in the regional final in program history. West Chester defeated Kutztown, 3-1, on the road earlier this fall. Bridgeport is the defending East Region champion and coming off a national semifinal appearance a year ago, after shutting out East Stroudsburg, 2-0, in the quarterfinals. Friday's East Region final is a rematch of last year's game. Adelphi defeated Bridgeport 1-0 at home earlier this fall in the team's only meeting in 2016.
