WEST CHESTER, Pa. - West Chester's men's tennis squad earned a shutout win over visiting Salem International University, 9-0, Monday afternoon on South Campus.
West Chester (2-7) ended a seven-match losing streak dating back to the fall season with an impressive win. The Golden Rams swept all six singles matches in straight sets, after sweeping the doubles competition.
Charlie Rushing (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) was a 6-3, 6-4 winner at first singles and teamed up with
Lucas von der Heyde (Exton, Pa./Great Valley) at first doubles for an 8-5 win. Von der Heyde scored a 6-2, 6-1 win at second singles as well.
Lars Kristiansen (New Hope, Pa./New Hope-Solesbury) was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at fourth singles while pairing with
Troy Donato (Hockessin, Del./Alex I. duPont) at second doubles for an 8-2 victory.
Tony Deimler (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) topped his opponent at third singles, 6-1, 6-1, before teaming with
Ryan Keffer (York, Pa./Central York) at third doubles for an 8-3 triumph.
Keanu Travelino (Kailua, HI/West Hawaii Explorations Academy) was a 6-3, 6-1 winner at sixth singles.
West Chester travels to Kutztown University Saturday afternoon to open the PSAC portion of its spring schedule.
