Troy Donato (Hockessin, Del./Alex I. duPont) picked up a 7-6 (3), 6-2 win at fifth singles to clinch a 7-2 non-league men's tennis win over visiting Philadelphia University on a windy Thursday afternoon on South Campus.
West Chester (4-7) carried a 2-1 advantage into the singles competition over PhilaU (3-8). Consecutive wins at sixth, first and fifth singles quickly put the outcome in the books for the Golden Rams.
Keanu Travelino (Kailua, Hawai'i/West Hawai'i Explorations Academy) was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at sixth singles.
Charlie Rushing (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) was a 6-2, 6-1 winner at first singles, before Donato clinched the match.
Tony Deimler (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) and Lars Kristiansen
(New Hope, Pa./New Hope-Solesbury) were also singles winners at three and four.
Rushing and
Lucas Von der Heyde (Exton, Pa./Great Valley) teamed up at first doubles for an 8-4 win while Deimler and
Ryan Keffer (York, Pa./Central York) were 8-4 winners at third doubles.
West Chester travels to Bloomsburg this weekend for a PSAC match.
