WEST CHESTER, Pa. - Kaitlin Hatch (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) scored two goals and assisted on two others in leading No. 8 West Chester to a 5-1 victory over No. 7 Limestone on a cool fall night at Vonnie Gros Field Friday evening.
West Chester (9-5) handed Limestone (11-1) its first loss of the season in a dominating fashion. The Saints mustered just a pair of shots on goals with both shots coming off their corner opportunities. The Golden Rams held decided margins on both shots and penalty corner opportunities, which contributed to the host's ability to control the match and keep applying pressure to Limestone's defense.
Limestone opened up the scoring on a slapshot from the top of the circle directly off an insertion on a corner just 19 minutes into the contest. However, Hatch responded four and seven minutes later, and Caitie McNamara tacked on another just before halftime to give the home team a 3-1 lead at the break.
Rachal Toppi (Glassboro, N.J./Glassboro) converted a penalty stroke in the 40th minute, and
Sophie Rupert (Manheim, Germany) scored her first of the season in the 60th minute to put the game away.
Marissa Elizardo (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) did not make a save in picking up her ninth win of the season.
The Golden Rams travel to East Stroudsburg on Tuesday for a pivotal PSAC match against the Warriors.
