EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - Host East Stroudsburg scored twice in the second half to score a 2-0 PSAC field hockey victory over visiting West Chester Tuesday afternoon at Whitenight Field.
West Chester (9-6, 3-4 PSAC) saw its three-game winning streak halted by East Stroudsburg (12-3, 5-2), dropping the Golden Rams into a tie for sixth place in the conference standings with three league games left in the regular-season. It also marked just the second time all year that West Chester was held scoreless in a match.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kelly Shapiro scored both of ESU's goals eight minutes apart early on in the second half.
- ESU goalkeeper Hallie Frisco made five saves, all in the first half, to record the shutout.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- West Chester held an 8-3 advantage in penalty corners, including 5-1 in the first half, but could not capitalize
- West Chester was outshot 12-10 in the game. However, the Golden Rams held a 7-4 advantage in shots in the first half. The Golden Rams just could not break through with a goal.
- West Chester was held to just three shots in the second half.
West Chester returns home on Saturday for its final home game of the regular season. The Golden Rams will honor its graduating seniors on Senior Day at 1 p.m. against Mercyhurst.
