West Chester Men Sweep Tri-Meet With Shippensburg and So. Conn. St.

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Pijus Mackevicius (Kaunas, Lithuania) was a double winner as West Chester saw four different individuals pull off wins Saturday en route to a tri-meet sweep against Shippensburg and Southern Connecticut State University.
 
West Chester topped the hosts, Shippensburg, 231-95, and downed Southern Conn. State, 238-88. The divers, who were also in action against SCSU at Hollinger Field House, swept both boards in impressive fashion.
 
Jonas Ricci (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra) was the winner off the 1-meter springboard with a score of 254.70. Teammate Luke Kisiel (Connellsville, Pa./Connellsville) was right behind him with a 253.50. Kisiel won the 3m competition with a score of 241.95. Meanwhile, Ricci was third with a 184.75.
 
Mackevicius won the 100-yard butterfly in 51.26 seconds while also taking the 50 free in 21.64. Trent Groff (Reading, Pa./Exeter Twp.) was second in the 50 free in a time of 22.46. Evan Sherkness (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh) was fourth (23.07).
 
Keir Uhlin (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) won the 1650 free in a time of 16:41.82 while Dylan North (Airville, Pa./Red Lion) was third in 16:50.09. North won the 200 backstroke, touching the wall in 1:58.39. West Chester swimmers also took third and fourth in that event.
 
Shota Nakano (Hummelstown, Pa./Hershey) led a contingent of swimmers to the wall in the 200 breaststroke as the Golden Rams claimed the top three spots in that event. He touched out in 2:11.14. Jarod Anderson (Newville, Pa./Big Spring) was second in 2:13.85. Thomas McCormick (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) was third in 2:17.17.
 
Uhlin placed second in the 200 free (1:47.93) while Timmy Tomsuden (Marriottsville, Md./Liberty) was third in 1:48.62.
 
West Chester swept the top two spots in the 200 medley relay. The team of Kohle Kerchner (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg), McCormick, Nakano and Sherkness won in 1:37.71.
 
West Chester will return to action on Friday when it lifts the lid on its home slate by hosting Bloomsburg and Lehigh in a tri-meet that begins at 6 p.m.
