West Chester Men Defeat Lehigh and Bloomsburg in Tri-Meet

Meet Results

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – West Chester University's men's swimming & diving squad won eight events in sweeping a tri-meet with Bloomsburg and Lehigh inside Graham Natatorium Friday evening.

West Chester, ranked 12th in the latest CSCAA Division II poll, topped Division I opponent Lehigh, 125-106, while outdistancing PSAC rival Bloomsburg, 155-67. The Golden Rams exacted revenge on both opponents, after dropping this tri-meet to the same two foes a season ago. West Chester last beat Lehigh in 2015-16.

West Chester's 400-yard medley relay started off the day with a win. The foursome of Kohle Kerchner (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg), Shota Nakano (Hummelstown, Pa./Hershey), Pijus Mackevicius (Kaunas, Lithuania) and Austin Doss (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) touched the wall in 3 minutes, 27.22 seconds.

Keir Uhlin (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) and Dylan North (Airville, Pa./Red Lion) claimed the top two spots in the 1000 freestyle. Uhlin was the winner in 9:47.34 while North was right behind him in 9:50.01.

Nakano was an individual winner, adding to his win as part of the 400 medley relay, in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:56.57. He also won the 200 breaststroke, making it two individual wins and a relay win on the night.

Tommy Tomsuden (Marriottsville, Md./Liberty) took the first-place ribbon in the 200 butterfly. He touched out in 1:57.05. North was right behind him in 1:57.37. Meanwhile, Kohle Kerchner (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) placed first in the 200 backstroke.

Jonas Ricci (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra) was a double winner off the two diving boards, taking first place in both the 1- and the 3-meter competitions.

West Chester returns to the pool on Nov. 3-4 at the Thomas Murphy Invitational at Loyola University (Md.), along with Drexel and Johns Hopkins.
