Slippery Rock, Pa.-The No. 22 West Chester University women's soccer team(12-2-1, 12-2-0 PSAC) continued their winning ways as they defeated Slippery Rock(9-5-2, 9-4-2 PSAC) on Saturday afternoon by a score of 2-1.
How it Happened:
- Slippery Rock got on the board early when Skye Kramer scored in the 22nd minute off an assist from Maddy Tletski and Kaitlyn Barackman to give Slippery Rock the early 1-0 lead.
- This lead held up until the 56 minute when Fr., M Brittany Reffit (Calvert County, Md./Northern) headed home a cross from So.,M Jenny Bail (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) to even the score at 1-1.
- The Golden Rams ultimately scored the game winner in the closing minutes of regulation thanks to an own goal from Slippery Rock that gave West Chester the 2-1 victory.
Inside the Numbers:
- West Chester held a slight 15-13 advantage in shots but Slippery Rock did hold a 10-9 advantage in shots on goal.
- West Chester did hold a 3-2 advantage in corners on the afternoon.
- Sr., GK McKenna Mullin (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) worked hard in goal making nine big saves to keep West Chester in the match.
Playoff Implications:
This game also gave West Chester the assurance that they will finish no lower then fourth in the standings and they will be hosting a first round playoff game on Tuesday October 31st.
