West Chester Races Past Mansfield, 5-0

Mansfield, Pa.-West Chester University women's soccer (13-2-1, 13-2-0 PSAC) traveled to Mansfield (0-14-1, 0-14-1 PSAC) for their final PSAC road game of the regular season. West Chester picked up the victory winning by a score of 5-0.
How it Happened:
  • Jr. F Nikki Zaso (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) opened the scoring early when she turned a deflection into a goal to give West Chester the 1-0 lead.
  • So. M Jenny Bail (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) scored 17 minutes later when she got around a defender and then beat the keeper to give the Golden Rams the 2-0 advantage.
  • So. M Madison Baxter (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) broke through just five minutes later scoring off an assist from senior Kaitlyn McNamara (West Nyack, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) giving West Chester the 3-0 advantage.
  • In the second half it was more of the same for the Golden Rams as Jade Burns (Baltimore,Md./Kenwood) scored her first career goal off an assist from Madison Joynes (Philadelphia, Pa./Nazareth Academy) to extend the lead to 4-0 over Mansfield.
  • Just three minutes  Burns returned the favor as she assisted Joynes on her first career goal as well.
Inside the Numbers:
  • McKenna Mullin (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) earned the start in goal and played the first have making two saves to keep the game scoreless heading to the half. Brooke Myers (Middletown, Pa./Middletown Area) entered for the final 45 minutes and kept Mansfield off  the scoreboard en route to the 5-0 victory.
  • West Chester outshot Mansfield by a huge 48-6 margin including an 18-2 advantage in shots on goal.
  • West Chester also held a decisive 12-0 advantage in Corners.
  • This is the most goals West Chester has scored this season as the previous high was 3 vs Millersville earlier in October.
