Brittaney Reffit (Calvert County, Md. / Northern) netted the game winner this afternoon, leading the Golden Rams to a 1-0 victory over visiting IUP (Pa.) (12-5-0, 11-5-0 PSAC) inside Rockwell Field.
The win allowed West Chester (14-2-1, 14-2-0 PSAC) to claim the top spot in the Pennsylvania State Athletic State (PSAC) standings on Senior Day.
How it Happened
- Jr., D Julia Kirkpatrick (Brick, N.J. / Brick Twp.) fired off a shot that IUP's goalkeeper saved, but Reffit was in the right at the right time. She knocked in the goal inside the box right before half at 44:19.
- That was enough to hold off IUP as senior goalkeeper McKenna Mullin (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) received the win by making a pair of saves. This marked Mullin's fifth shutout of the season.
Inside the Numbers
- The Golden Rams managed a 16-3 advantage in shots in addition to shots on goal at 10-2.
- IUP's Makenzie WItzel registered nine saves, but allowed the one goal to Reffit.
- West Chester held a 9-2 edge in corner kicks as well.
Notes
West Chester finishes in first in the PSAC standings after the victory. They produced 42 points, while Kutztown was second at 40 points.
