WEST CHESTER, Pa. – West Chester (7-5, 2-3 PSAC) bounced back into the winning column this afternoon, blanking visiting Mansfield (5-6, 1-3 PSAC) in conference action, 3-0, inside Vonnie Gros Field.
How it Happened
- So., F Katie Thompson (Washington, N.J. / Warren Hills) tallied the first goal of the contest, giving West Chester a 1-0 advantage early on. Teammate Lindsay Engle (Medford, N.J. / Shawnee) was credited with the assist on the play at 5:31.
- That was all the scoring in the first half as the Golden Rams played the majority of the half in Mansfield's territory.
- Jr., M Kaitlin Hatch (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) provided her team-leading 10th goal of the season at the 47:44 make in the second half. Sophomore Sophie Ruppert (Manheim, Germany / Ludwing-Frank) managed to get the ball in deep to Hatch, who got it passed the goalkeeper.
- Lastly, Kelsey Munster (Lancaster, Pa. / Hempfield) contributed the final goal of the match to seal the deal at 56:39. Engle added her second assist of the day on the play to Munster.
- Jr., GK Marissa Elizardo (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) posted a shutout in 70 minutes of action for the Golden Rams.
- Mansfield's goalkeeper Brittany Ryan managed to make 14 saves, but it was not enough as she surrendered three goals in the loss.
