California, Pa.-The West Chester university women's soccer team (8-2-1, 8-2 PSAC) took to the road on Saturday afternoon to square off against the Cal (Pa.) Vulcans (3-8-1, 3-7-1 PSAC). The Golden Rams went on to win by a final score of 2-1.
How it Happened:
- Cal Opened the scoring just eight minutes into the game when Kira Carberry used a deflection in front to bury the first goal of the game in the left corner giving Cal a 1-0 lead.
- In the 37th minute West Chester answered back when Jenny Bail(Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) headed home a Nikki Caffey(Holland, Pa./Council Rock South) corner kick to even the score at 1-1.
- The Golden Rams were not done as Nikki Zaso(Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) recorded her third goal of the week and fourth of the season off an assist from Kaitlyn McNamara(West Nyack, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) to give West Chester a 2-1 lead.
Inside the Numbers:
- McKenna Mullin(Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) earned the start in goal once again making one save en-route to her third victory of the season.
- West Chester outshot their hosts by a 15-3 margin including a 6-2 advantage in shots on goal.
- West Chester also held an 8-0 advantage in corner kicks on the afternoon.
